Development, Special Events, and Communication Internship

  • Assistance with logistics plans for AHA’s three main events –
    • Heart Walk (summer/fall interns): The largest outdoor walking event in Jacksonville with 25,000 attendees, located at Metropolitan Park
    • Heart Ball (spring interns): Premier gala, 500 attendees, located at Sawgrass Marriott
    • Go Red for Women (spring/summer interns): Premier luncheon that focuses on women located at Florida Blue
  • Tasks may include-
    • Utilizing TeamRaiser, Event Manager and Greater Giving software; will be trained on both websites
    • Attending meetings with event specialists. These meetings could include Team Captain Kickoffs, logistics meetings, office meetings, venue walkthroughs, activation meetings, ROI’s, and other planning meetings.
    • Assisting with writing press releases and media advisories
    • Attending interviews at local media outlets
    • Inputting media impressions data into Excel spreadsheet
    • Creating marketing and promotional materials for local events
    • Weekly 1:1 meetings with direct supervisor to review work week tasks
  • Required attendance for the interns designated event(s) – Heart Walk (fall), Heart Ball (spring), Go Red for Women Luncheon (spring), along with 2 additional events to choose from during the intern’s semester
