Fashion Group International Internship Position

  • This is a paid Communication and Marketing/Business internship with an emphasis in fashion and design.

Primary Responsibilities are:

  • List management, data processing and coordination of print mailings.
    • In coordination with the local board president and national organization, the FGI intern will oversee the gathering and organization of the FGI local membership list.
      • This will include securing documents, merging and purging records, checking file accuracy as well as editing, formatting, printing letters and envelopes and stuffing envelopes, securing postage and mailing them.
  • Upon receipt of mailing responses and feedback from national and local board, ongoing maintenance and management of the membership list will be a priority.
  • Working in concert with the president and national organization to organize, manage and design the local website.
  • Once the FGI local website is set up with recent information, maintenance will require posting new information regarding upcoming meetings, events and programs. This information will be secured from the board, from national and from members.
  • In coordination with the Marketing Chair, the FGI intern will organize and/ establish the FGI social media tools and leverage them to promote FGL its members, activities, events and programs.
    • Managing the content of the website will require the ability to secure information and photos to post on the website.
  • Work in collaboration with the Education Chair and FGI board to organize, promote and implement a education seminar for students.

Other potential responsibilities

  • Assist the Marketing Chair with preparation of marketing and communications materials, including flyers, folders, brochures, banners to promote FGI.
  • Interview members, business owners, fashion leaders, stylists and others and writing articles, feature stories, press releases and testimonials for use in various publications, social media and the websites.
  • Assist event presenters with Power Point preparation for presentations.
  • Support the Event Chair in coordinating, preparing for and attending special events hosted by FGI as well as other community activities related to fashion.
  • Assisting the Sponsorship Chair and leadership team in securing financial and in kind support.
  • When appropriate, answer the telephone, send faxes, make copies, and assisting the Board with additional projects as needed.


  • This position requires a resourceful self starter with good project management skills.
  • Strong data processing, editing, writing, social media and content management skills required
  • Proficiency in Power Point and Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel or data management program essential
  • Ability to use a telephone, copier, fax and computer is important
  • Photography, video production and creative design capability a plus.
  • Timeliness and reliability are essential
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are critical success factors
  • Physical requirements: The ability to lift and carry materials

Other requirements:

  • A sense of fun, a love of fashion, and some creative skills are a bonus!
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work after hours and on weekends
  • Florida Drivers license and a car for occasional deliveries and appointments.
  • An ability to work with and learn from diverse professionals is helpful.
  • An individual with a strong work ethic and organizational skills required.
  • Professional demeanor and presentation preferred.
  • Maturity and problem solving skills are an advantage in this work environment.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities, tight deadlines and work with diverse personalities is beneficial.
