Jax Parks– Video Production/Broadcast News

JaxParks Community Relations Office manages projects that provide exposure to basic video news story development, script writing, interview techniques, program line-up development; reporting and on-camera activities; and video/digital  editing processes.

Candidate  requirements:

  • Able to multi-task and travel to various sites within Duval County.
    • Familiar with basic broadcast/video news functions

Assigned projects each semester are based on student ability. Samples of projects include:

  • Complete news packages featuring various stories about JaxParks and or Mayoral activities (includes interviewing, scripting, shooting and editing full-length packages for use on JaxParks TV, government access channel 99, jaxparks.com website, JaxParks YouTube channel and other social media sites. Some packages are provided to local news stations based on story content.
  • Host JaxParks TV, a monthly news program featured on jaxparkstv.com , government access channel 99, JaxParks YouTube channel and other social media sites.
  • Produce and develop program lineups for JaxParks TV and JaxParks TV quarterly specials.

This is an unpaid internship; however, credit is available through an accredited university/college. This internship will provide excellent “real world” learning opportunities and completed projects for portfolios to students or recent graduates.

Samples of completed projects:

Interns have produced video public service announcements aired on local broadcast stations, a video series for promotion of M3Zone, JaxParks after school program. A recent intern develop JaxParks TV, a monthly program that runs on jaxparkstv.com and government access channel99 and produced a 112- part video series titled Walk in the Park that features tours of Jacksonville’s preservation sites . Another intern develop the concept for and produced JaxParks’ newest promotional video, hosted JaxParks TV and produced five news packages .
