Social Media Intern

Mining Media International Inc. is seeking a motivated, resourceful and tech-savvy student to serve as a social media intern. The intern will work directly with the editorial team for Engineering and Mining Journal, Coal Age and Equipo Minero to execute content for all platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Applicants should have a strong level of experience with these platforms, a demonstrated writing ability, organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of a team and independently.

The intern will:

  • Create and publish daily content (combining both original text and images as well as text and images from staff) that enhances our pages, builds connections and encourages engagement.
  • Research and create innovative tactics to grow the audiences of each of the pages and groups Mining Media manages.
  • Monitor all pages on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Moderate and comment as necessary on all user-generated content.
  • Continuously capture and analyze appropriate social data/metrics in order to glean insights and improve engagement with our audience.
  • Collaborate with editorial and sales departments to identify key players and expand our audience.
  • Develop social media strategies to drive traffic to our websites.
  • Keep track of how our social media is performing.


  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid writing skills
  • Familiar with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently
