    POSITION:  Audience Development Intern

 REPORTS TO:  ASSIGNED SUPERVISOR

 PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Audience Development Intern is a student who is assigned to an office of the Jacksonville Business Journal. This is a paid internship designed to enhance the educational and business experience of the student.  The Intern is responsible for assisting the assigned supervisor in implementing events, circulation and overall audience development goals.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with event planning
  • Promotions
  • Editing Event Ads
  • Writing Event Scripts
  • Event implementation
  • Social media relations
  • Data base management
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:  Be a current student enrolled and in good standing in an institution of higher learning (college or university). Be available for normal workday hours (8:30 am until 5 pm) and occasional early morning or late evening events. Be willing to commit to a full semester.  Have a commitment to fulfill the academic requirements of the course in which they are registered, if they are interning as a class requirement. Provide personal transportation to attend meetings and functions with a valid driver license and proof of personal auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Enrolled and in good standing seeking a degree at a college or university. Internships are available in several majors for undergraduate and graduate level candidates.

The ideal candidate will be able to handle a fast paced work environment that may require quick solutions.  They must also demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.  A professional demeanor in dealing with the public is a must.  Experience with Microsoft Office 2007 is a must.
