 Position: Development/Special Events Intern

Description: As a Development/Special Events intern, you will work directly with the Nemours Fund for Children’s Health team in planning, supporting and executing Nemours special events.

 Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Development Team with the planning, coordination, and execution of fund raising events
  • Research new fundraising event ideas
  • Represent Nemours at events in the community
  • Provide administrative support with mailings and invitations
  • Contact vendors/businesses as needed to confirm event logistics (set up time, hours of event, expected attendance at event)
  • Assist with donor acknowledgement and guest follow-up
  • Manage and implement a plan for securing in-kind donations when necessary
  • Attend regular planning meetings held at the Jacksonville Home Office and the Jacksonville Clinic pertaining to special events
  • Assist with daily data entry and communication as needed to support the Fund for Children’s Health team including preparing agendas, handouts, presentations and materials for meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 Qualifications:

  • This position is open for a student intern with an educational concentration in communications, marketing, non-profit  management, or other  related fields
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • The candidate must have discretion and respect for confidentiality of the Nemours Fund for Children’s Health and client information
  • Previous internship or special events experience a strong plus

 Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Hours: 10 to 20 hours per week (this is flexible), during normal business hours of 8:30am-5:00pm and possibly some nights and weekends (for events).

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. However, the internship offers invaluable hands-on experience.
