About PACE: PACE Center for Girls is a nationally recognized and research based model that features a balanced emphasis on academics and social service with a focus on the future for girls and young women ages 12 to 17. PACE serves over 2,000 girls each year at 17 non-residential Centers throughout Florida. For more information about PACE visit www.pacecenter.org.

Internship Opportunity: PACE is seeking a qualified intern to provide the opportunity to be involved in the advocacy and awareness activities of PACE that promote improved juvenile justice policies for girls in Florida and nationally. Students studying Communications, Women’s Studies, or Criminal Justice would be given an opportunity to be involved first hand in these activities, learn from experts in the field, and network with community and civic leaders.

This is an unpaid internship that also includes some travel to Tallahassee. Such travel and related expenses would be reimbursed. For more information, contact Marcus Haile, Director of Development, at 904-253-6222 or marcus.haile@pacecenter.org.

Internship  Activities:

  • Review and summarize research on girls involved in the juvenile justice system to present to elected officials
  • Work with the local PACE Center to learn best practices involved in helping girls
  • Support planning and implementation of special events designed to raise awareness about issues facing girls such as inequitable legal and criminal justice policies and appropriate academic instruction and support
  • Support development of written materials about PACE and selected advocacy issues for dissemination to the public and targeted audiences
  • Provide input into the graphic design of printed materials and selection and use of promotional or advertising materials
