UNF Campus Life

Duties, responsibilities and learning opportunities include the following:

Support the growth and enhancement of campus life through the organization and production of the initiative listed.

  • Game Days at The Boathouse
  • Plan and promote an opportunity for students, alums, families, staff and faculty to watch and enjoy college and pro games during football season.
  • Homecoming Parade 2014
  • Work with overall homecoming committee meeting to coordinate this element into the overall homecoming festivities. Solicit partners for participation while keeping focus on increasing the parade as well as overall student participation.
  • Concept, plan, and produce table tennis tournament Determine rules, participation requirements, team concept, etc.

The projects listed above are the major focus for the next several months and will require strong communication skills to include:

  • Strong interest in using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
  • Help to create strategies to increase participation.
  • Develop internal communications and publicity for programs using newsletters, email and intranet.
  • Create rich and creative content that is optimal for search engines and other promotional pieces as required.  Possess solid knowledge of grammar, punctuation  and ability to proofread for errors. Develop effective distribution system.
  • Ensure messages are consistent with the overall UNF brand to meet university standards.
  • Develop and support relationships with alumni, club alliance, families, students, stakeholders and others who support UNF to create more excitement on campus.
  • Coordinate logistical support as required for projects.
  • Writing and communication skills are a must and will be instrumental to communicate the messages as required.

Other opportunities will include attending meetings and contributing to the brainstorming and idea gathering sessions; research; meeting other professionals in the communications industry; fine tune prioritizing and balancing of multiple projects; respect deadlines and learn the ‘art of being flexible’ and ability to work independently.

In addition, there will be opportunities to work with various sponsors (Pepsi, Red Bull) to develop enhancements for campus events and build more relationships within the community to be able to offer students additional college experiences.

At the conclusion of the internship, the student should have many additions to their portfolio.
