The Jacksonville Icemen are a minor league professional ice hockey team in the ECHL in Jacksonville, Florida, that began play in the 2017–18 season. The team is affiliated with the New York Rangers and plays their home games at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The team provides quality, family friendly sports entertainment, and has been voted “Best Sports Team in Jacksonville” for 3 years in a row! They average an attendance of 6,500 fans per game, second only to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville Icemen are owned by Zawyer Sports, who also own and operate the Community First Igloo, and the Savannah Ghost Pirates.

Jacksonville Icemen Internship – Job Description
The Jacksonville Icemen are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated interns. Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, results driven world of the ECHL.
We are looking for various candidates to work in the departments below throughout the organization, including: Communication & Public Relations; Marketing/Graphic Design: Community Relations; Events & Game Operations; and Corporate Partnerships & Activation.

The Icemen Internship program will last through May 2023. Interns are also expected to commit to
the full term of the internship (36+ games and events). Applicants must be able to work flexible hours
including nights and weekends for events and games. This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who want to pursue a career in sports.

Communication and Public Relations Internship:

• Work Directly with the Director of Communication & Broadcasting.
• Assist in writing press releases, game recaps and social media content.
• Shadow and assist our broadcasters on game days.

Marketing/Graphic Design:

• Report to the Marketing Department and will assist in designing print ads, graphics, website ads and content, invitations, and other printed and electronic materials.
• Assist with capturing and creating content for the team’s social media pages.
• Work hands-on with graphic design team on graphics, photography, video editing and other creative projects.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and photography is preferred.

Game Events/Operations & Community Relations

• Need to be passionate about event planning and game day entertainment.
• Gain experience by working on a variety of community outreach programs and events. Some responsibilities include managing team donations and organizing charitable events.
• Help run the day-to-day operations that occur behind the scenes to prep for game day.
• Learn customer service and problem solving by shadowing staff.

Corporate Partnership Sales & Activation

Will learn how to prospect, pitch, and maintain sponsors and partner relationship, while gaining hands-on experience in professional sports marketing and business development.
