UNF School of Communication

Social Media Intern

The School of Communication wants a communication student who is organized, a self-starter, good content writer, and has an understanding of social media platforms to assist in the promotion of the department’s events and activities. It is a plus if a student has an understanding of copyright law and has some experience with graphic design programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a calendar of events for the department. Must be in constant contact with faculty and staff to make sure all projects, activities, and important dates are listed on the calendar. Use this calendar of events to develop a content calendar for social media platforms.
  • Manage the School’s social media accounts which include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and any others that seem appropriate for promotions.
  • Maintain a schedule where posts are done at least three to five times a week and use Hootsuite or other programs to schedule postings after regular school and business hours.
  • Serve as the School’s brand ambassador on its social media platforms by engaging with social media followers online in a manner which appropriately represents the department and university and complies with policy and procedure.
  • Maintain a library of digital media contact on behalf of the School which includes posts, images, video links, etc.
  • Create a monthly “Spotlight” topic which features a faculty/staff member or student or alumni to be showcased on our various social media platforms.
  • Work weekly with faculty, staff and other students to create digital content to be used in the Comm Connect newsletter and to be broadcast on social media platforms.
  • Evaluate analytics and insights on the School’s social media platforms and create reports when needed. This data will be used to assess the engagement of the department’s various sites.
  • Any additional duties may be assigned as needed.
