Sports Journalism Intern

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate for the internship will have the responsibility to write, produce and host a daily TV sports show for the School of Communication’s broadcast “Inside Swoop in 90.”
  • Students should be familiar with the process of writing and producing a TV show, skills acquired in either RTV3220c (Inside Swoop), JOU4348 (Inside Jax), or RTV4930 (Sports Journalism). This internship is for Multimedia Journalism Students with desires specific to Sports Journalism.
  • The internship commences quickly each semester with daily production of “Inside Swoop Sports Editions” the School of Communication daily informative social media broadcast.
  • Interns will produce short sports segments (Inside Swoop in 90) using The Associated Press services on current events to be posted on the school’s Facebook platform and IGTV, Facebook pages for “Inside Swoop in 90.”
  • Additionally, the intern will have opportunities to gather sports related stories and content on campus, and off campus, for social media broadcasts on School of Communication social channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook…)
  • Interns will collaborate with other School of Communication interns to complete projects for several projects that requires teamwork in the studio. For instance, interns will operate the teleprompter for “Inside Swoop in 90” the daily news segment of the School of Communication, or direct an episode of “CommConnectTV” the weekly TV show for Communication students.
  • Additional duties may include working with Dr. David Deeley or others on Live Sports Programming for UNF Athletics when necessary.
