Description of Duties
Upon the successful completion of your internship the student should have a solid understanding of the following:
- Field reporting and interview skills to include editorial judgement in interview selections
- Formulating interview and follow-up questions
- Field gathering of natural sound
- Selection of appropriate sound bytes
- Digital audio editing
- Broadcast writing
- Vocal performance for radio
Training Opportunities
Student will receive training in digital editing and sound-gathering, multimedia storytelling, development of on-air presence, writing skills and editorial judgement
Tentative Work Schedule
One M/W/F and one T/Th internship available. Must be able to work flexible hours and have own transportation.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Motivated self-starter
- Excellent writing, researching and editing skills
- Able to work under daily deadline pressure
- Ability to pitch and execute original story ideas
- Knowledge of a wide variety of current events is essential, and an interest in public broadcasting is a plus
