WJCT News (First Coast Connect)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Does daily research for various show topics, identifies, pre-interviews and books potential guests with supervision from show host and producer
- Greets guests in the lobby and escorts them to the studio
- Produces segments under supervision of show producer and host
- Participates in staff meetings and projects as required
- Contributes story and guest ideas
- Answers phones, directs streaming cameras or observes studio crew during live production
- Creates original content for the wjctnews.org website and assists with social media strategy
- Participates in Public Broadcasting fundraising activities.
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:
Student will receive training in producing a radio talk show, multimedia storytelling, writing skills and editorial judgment
TENTATIVE WORK SCHEDULE:
One M/W/F and one T/Th internship available. Must be able to work flexible hours and have own transportation
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Motivated self-starter. Excellent writing, researching and editing skills. Able to work under daily deadline pressure. Ability to pitch and execute original story ideas. Knowledge of a wide variety of current events is essential and an interest in Public Broadcasting is a plus.
